THE PROBLEM
“…for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23
We are all sinners, but God’s standard is perfect righteousness. Not even the most well-behaved or morally upright person can obtain that requirement.
THE PENALTY
“Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned—” – Romans 5:12
The seed of sin, inherited from Adam, is within each of us at birth and demands a penalty. According to Romans 6:23, the penalty for sin is death both physically (where the soul is separated from the body) and spiritually (where the soul is eternally separated from God).
THE PROVISION
“But God demonstrates His own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8
On the cross, Jesus Christ became the perfect sacrifice for all sin, valid for all time. Unless we accept God’s provision, then we are left to pay the eternal consequences of rejecting the gift of eternal life.
THE PARDON
“…that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”– Romans 10:9-10
We must trust in Jesus for our personal salvation to secure our pardon.
